Welcome to Armydogtags!
click the link above Armydogtags supply American-style dog tags, embossed with your choice of message, using a genuine US military embossing machine. We offer genuine American Army steel dog tags, or you can choose from a range of specialised tags, including black Special Forces tags, medical alert tags, brass, sterling silver, and a range of bright metallic colours. Prices start from £5.99 for a classic double set, and £8.99 for coloured and metallic sets. Just made a purchase, I do a fair bit of road cycling and I thought it'll be easier for the authorities to fish this out of my bloodied gloop whilst lodged underneath 40 tonnes of lorry than anything else I'm currently carrying.

Hi All,
In terms of a discount. As suggested I'm happy to offer free 1st class post to any TDR members until the end of this month. We don't have a discount module on our site so if you place an order, just forward your order confirmation email back to contact@armydogtags.co.uk and include your TDR ID and I will refund the 99p back to you manually. This applies to anyone who's placed orders already obviously. There are loads of applications for dogtags..... As well as the obvious medical ID etc, I've used them in the past for labelling all my kit (great if you are doing a euro trip and sending all your stuff somewhere) and even as a keyring for my bike keys. We do a mini dog tag that's good for this. It's still got a rubber edge so it won't scratch your yoke like most keyrings do. Here's a pic to give you an idea: Anyone with any special requests, feel free to ask, Cheers Rhodri

To be honest I'm not completely sure. I guess it depends on your series maybe and what the organisers want. Personally I'd include: Name Date of Birth Blood type (although medical types won't accept this if you do need blood) In case of emergency phone number and contact details Any known ailments or medications that might be relevant to first aiders / paramedics. It's the last twothat are most useful. We sell red tags which are a bit more obvious and even one with the caduceus medical symbol laser etched on them if that's your bag.

Standard US military format works pretty well. If you have a look at our gallery, the first pic you will see of the all black tags have this. Basically it's Line 1: Surname Line 2: Initials Blood type Line 3: Social security number Line 4: 'USMC' refers to US marine corps, it could be NAVY or whatever Line 5: Religious preference You can modify it a bit to be: Line 1: Surname Line 2: Firstname Blood type Line 3: Date of Birth Line 4: 'ICE CALL:' Line 5: Emergency Phone number Or you can go with something a bit more creative! It's amazing what people ask for when they don't ever meet you My personal favourite is very much NSFW! |

Might sound a daft question but what's the easiest way to ascertain your blood type? I've had numerous surgeries and blood tests but never asked what blood type I am.

I found out mine when I started giving blood. Otherwise if you've ever had any blood tests done in the past contact your GP and they should let you know. Otherwise the only way is to have a blood test done. For that you would need to get in touch with your GP. |

I think I'll be ordering one for racing.
The only information required for ACU dog tags is Full Name and Date Of Birth. Blood group, emergency contact number, favourite type of biscuit and first pet are not required ACU Handbook refer to section 14.3 Edited by Copo - 22 January 2014 at 19:18 |

As Copo says all you need for racing is name and DOB
Blood type WILL be ignored as any medical team will test that rather than hold themselves open to a compensation claim |

I got mine by giving blood, quickest way and its free and your doing a good service by saving a life so you get that warm fuzzy feeling too 😊. You can ask your gp to check your blood group but they usually charge for this service. But any medical personal will not accept your blood group from tags or clothing (I have mine on my probans as I was told too because I'm rare apparently) the first thing they will do if needed is do a group and save (also known as cross matching). Different clubs have different info on their tags but the best information to have (and which is always asked for by the paramedics) is: name, date of birth, next of kin contacts, any known life threatening aliments (diabetic, anaphylactic allergies etc) and then if there is room your address Hope this helps |

Here's another helpful tip.......
Put a list of phone numbers in your leathers pocket. We all rely on our mobiles to store numbers (we don't remember them like we used to). If you get carted off to hospital its unlikely you will have your mobile on you and you may need to make calls to make sure your mates don't phone the other half, arrange lift back to circuit etc etc Even if you get your leathers cut off trackside they will follow you to the hospital as the medics will want to see them for possible damage areas Edited by Jack R1 - 23 January 2014 at 15:20 |

On tips ideas. Why not have a mini bag ready (especially if you are on your own) so if you do have to go off to hospital it had everything in it you need. Its rare for us not to stop at soneones van/awning on the way out of a circuit on route and if the essentials were already together in one bag it would make things much easier for you and one less thing to worry about. Change of clothes, list of numbers (like jack r1 said) and some change for hospital pay phones, those kind of things. Hopefully you won't need to use it though x
