Well Looks like its my turn to put a report in at Crabby's request who could'nt be there due to arse problems and was sorley missed!!!!
So, 5 o clock alarm call, up and out after crumpets and Earl grey jump in van and go in hunt of Andy and Yozzer and ginjar pete who hopefully started off 10 mins before, finally cought them up on A55 as they were well early off the mark, Give them the obligotory 100 mph fly by. Was'nt long after that things started stiring below and i realised i was'nt going to make it to Anglesey's loo's, so looking for alternative dumping ground 3 lay bye's later found one with a nice tree for cover, now, a stone lighter headed off for sunny Anglesey once again. Arrived to a lovely dry morning track and set up after a quick piss about due to the electric boy's needing half the paddock, never mind.
Briefing done 1st session after sighting in laps get pushed off track coming out of the Banking by guy warming tyres so pass him on the grass but managed to clip him so he not too happy with me, sorry mate if it was my fault but no harm done.
2nd session all goes well till tyre lets go big time coming out of Peel apparantly you could hear the screech in Ireland ha ha! so end of session and new tyre fitted phew!! in the mean time AndyCJ is inspecting the circuit's grass quality at close quarters ( he likes a challenge he does bless him) but stays upright, Yozzer's doing his best but tyres are playing up so he's not playing as well as usual. Ginjar Pete's doing well getting the better of his tyres but in the wrong group due to a late signing but hey ho go Pete go!!
3rd session i get twa**ed by someone entering Corkscrew nearly fetching me off and sending him onto the grass and towards the tyres, hope he faired well, come end of session and i'm a paddock stand bobbin missing and claimed a dented exhaust and some red paint lol dont you just love the race week ends!!!
Afternoon sessions went well with Andy and myself having some classic duffing up sessions, sorry chaps if you got caught up in the fall out but we were having far too much fun to worry. Lots of red flags but once again a great day was had by the Hornet crew, I'm sure Andy will be along shortly to add more detail to this report as he does so well. Called in the Crabster on way home and he doing ok by the looks of it so he'll be back soon hopefully Moo ha ha ha ha!!!
Flip.

good report with lots of action flip - anglesey is a great track but i am surprised people found it a bit slippy, lots of run off there which is a good thing - stay out of the sea though!

Bloody hell Flip ya did a report. You forgot to tell us about the Elf getting black flagged
.
Would have loved to have been there if only to make up the numbers of Hairnets .
Cheers for calling in to see if me is ok
The curry did its trick this morning i feel more normal now. Pain is all but gone so sitting astride a bike is now a possibility again .

Ok, Ok, Jeez, ya'd think a guy would get time off for good behaviour ???
Ah well, early night on Fri 11.45pm, set the alarm for 4.15am, awoke at 3.45 fook it.
OJ and toast, in the van, arrive at Yozzers, out the van and into the big red one. Yozzer and I decided to share running costs and go in his van as Sweeny Rob the Demon Braker was sitting this one out. Met Ginjar Pete and Gill in Stoke and away we go.
was keeping his head down for now but, it didn't look too bad, hit the A 500, A summat else blah blah blah, flip comes blasting past in fuel save modeArrive at Anglesey about 7.30 I think, Flip's already there, bike out, loads of space, we park up next to him but, a very helpful guy comes over and explains that the battery boys have half the bloody paddock reserved and we'll probably get moved if we stay where we are so, over we shift, next to the paddock office and set up camp.
After the Oulton Park tyre warmer experience I've made sure this time and brought,,, my good rear, Flips spare singed set and Sweeny Rob's set, no way am I going out on cold tyres again, it's sh*te
We're a bit of a depleted group this time out, Sweeny Rob's got work commitments, Phil The Blade cant make it and Crabby well what can we say
I heard a rumour that he'd sneezed and turned himself inside out Into the briefing, it's a race weekend so, the race boys were reminded that this was a track day, NOT a test day so, please treat it as such. Once again we're told that we can pass either side, just give people a little space and, on the last lap keep the speed up, right then, lets be at em.
1st session, Flip's up the queue a bit, Yozzer and I are lined up side by side, away we go and we get stopped just as we're going out, Flip's away with it, ere we go, out on track, not going that well I have to admit, not much coming past though, I'm genuinly surprised, the session went without incident and we come in. A bit cautious were'nt ya ? say's Yozzer, well I didn't see you come past, say's I, picking up the gauntlet Yozzer just slapped me in the kisser with
was low it was shining in my left eye through the gap left by my dark Pinlok visor insert coming through Church and the right eye coming through the Corkscrew, actually, I dont think they heard me mention the Corkscrew over the friggin laughter, "ooh, I haven't used that one before say's Flip, me niether say's Yozzer the Lawnmower Man Hughes, who needs friends eh, EH, I ask ya, a little sympathy wouldn't go amiss yab!stards, then again "live by the sword etc".
I do get mixed up regarding what happened in which session I do admit, the best you can usually ask for is morning or afternoon
What I do know, is that in the first three sessions Flip had two collisions and an off tarmac excursion and he has the audacity to take the rise out of me. Come the second session I seem to be back to my old self, then again the
that little bit higher and I'm not getting blinded anymore, I must spring for a proper dark visor, there seems to be about four guy's who we just cant stay with two of whom are definately on 1000cc bikes and maybe two on pukka 600s.Third session and we're going well Yozzer is complaining about lack of grip but then, he never could keep hold of anything, where's his missus again ?
Lunch time, banter, pasties, cold drinks served by very tasty buxom Welsh young lasses
Right afternoon session, Ginjar Donlon the scurge of Penkhull is asleep in his van after squirting something unmentionable over his lady, carb cleaner or summat, I did point out that it wasn't the worst thing he'd ever squirted over her and to be fair to Gill, she did agree
Yozzer and I are just getting into the back of his van to change back into our leathers as one of the race guy's is walking past, big fella too, so I say, in a loud and clear voice, "come on Gaz, just time for a bit of bum action before the next session" that got a stern look
All lined up for the first session of the afternoon when, a guy on a red R1 with Derosa on his leathers shoots up the middle of two rows of patiently waiting riders, ignorant t**ser was one of the more polite remarks I heard, far more polite the the one I made, just as well Jelly fish bum wasn't there, he'd have probably thrown him over pit wall
Into the session, red flag, back in, back out get going, end of session.
Second session and The Lawnmower Man's tyres are not giving him any grip, he's coasting through all the bends and not gassing it until he's almost upright but, still, there's not much getting past him. I catch Flip but he's having trouble getting past a slower rider on a faster bike so, I show him how it's done, into Peel I think the, the bugger outbrakes me into the Banking, I get right on his tail, get good drive through Church and go under him up to Rocket, he's trying to tough it out but
Rocket got the power down, some moron trying to pull a wheelie in front of me, I swerved round him to avoid a collision then saw a yellow being waved. Came in for the end of the session and some ginjar bird in a tango suit pulled me over and starts remonstrating about overtaking under a flag, after explaing the other option was running over the pr!ck she changed tack and said I'd gone up the inside of some poor racer chap coming onto the start finnish, apparently he shat himself and sat up, even though I did give him loads of room. The very next session old ignoramous himself "Derosa" did exactly the same to Yozzer, only worse, was anything said ? was it fook
Last session, gets out with Flip we did that many passes on each other I cant remember them all, I do remeber getting round the outside of him leading up to Rocket then, getting held up by another racer boy coming down to the Corkscrew and seeing this shadow coming tight up the inside to the left of the track and thinking "no way is he going to make the turn, but he bloody did the sneeky tw^t, A few more passes made on each other until another red flag, I have to say though the photographer was standing outside Peel and I had it sideways every lap chasing Flip, gotta check them photo's. Appologies to the Lawnmower Man, he spun it up coming onto the start finnish, I was so intent on taking the p!ss by giving him the w^nker sign I completely missed my braking point going into Turn 1, had to grab a handful and he nearly hit me up the ^rse. All good fun though eh?
Went home, grabbed food, met Yozzer got mullered wahay
I really do have to say though, how the hell are a bunch of old farts on 10 and 11 year old machinery kicking the arses of young turks on pukka race kit, not all by any means but, shouldn't be any really should it guys,
Aaawoooo await the return of the Wolfman Crabb

Hey Crabby, where were you Sunday mate? Madforit did ok, he got the obligatory culture shock off the start, I've always said "track days dont make you faster, racing makes you faster" Madforit found that to be true at his first ever race meeting. I was timing him and he was pulling 1 min 03s in the morning and it has to be said, not aggressive enough but, by the afternoon in the newcomer handicap he'd knocked 3 secs off his lap times and sat two guy;s up going into Park, GOOD LAD
Hey, Dont tell him I said that will ya |
