I was keen to try out my new bike asap, but had nothing booked. After having a word with HM, he said there was a very good chance of getting on in the afternoon. So with this in mind I decided to go early, get the briefing done & out of the way, and start badgering Kevin Healy early to get me on.

The day didn't start as planned as I had a mishap while unstrapping the bike and it toppled over on the trailer, the crash bung saved most of it, but I have now got a small crack in the fairing to repair!! Doh!!

As I had a little time to get organised I went to meet Mike (Patch) to see how his ankle was progressing. He was limping , but determined to give it his best shot. Unfortunately as he reported, the ankle let him down very early on. It was good to meet the family and your riding buddy Mike. Very nice people.

I also had a wander up pit lane to see if I could find Jamos. As I have now found out, if I had walked DOWN pit lane just 4 garages I would have found him!! Doh!! Anyway I did watch him out on track, although at the time I wasn't sure it was him, I was watching every light blue Gixer, and remember his bike (Vermullen rep?),  he was going very well, smooth and quick. Nice one Jamie.

Meanwhile I was stalking Kev all over the place, until he finally said right, time to see Barry and get you on.    Now F*ck off and quit following me everywhere!!get_the_hell     Persistance pays off in the end!! HE HE!!:D    Thanks Kev.

Sorted out an agreeable deal with Barry and got into the fast group. Result!! Went back to the garage and started fettling, put the warmers on and waited patiently for my turn. It was cloudy but warm so I was looking forward to a good first outing on my new toy. As it was the first time on this bike and with a horrible set of old road tyres on, I elected to go out towards the back of the group so as not to cause too much of a mobile chicane.

Well I've got to say the bike exceeded my expectations, it was great to ride, apart from the tyres which were sh*te!! They made quick turns very hard. The engine pulls like a train, the gearbox/quickshift were a delight to use and the brakes were superb. I managed to overtake quite a few guys, but got duffed up by a lot more!! Silverstone does attract the quick boys!

At lunch time Harry Monk arrived to see if he could ponce a ride and introduced me to Spliffyaid, he was in the same garage as me but I didn't realise it was him!! In my defence I've got to say that I had all the Red Devils parachute team next to me in the garage as they were doing a jump and riding Kev's hire bikes. Not at the same time though!!:x
It was a pleasure meeting you mate, you're a top guy.

Chris (CJJ) from TMs came and said hello, he was settling in with his new bike ok, but was looking for a bit more power to compete with the thous on the straights.

The standard of riding was very good with few yellows and only one red, the guy was ok, just didn't quite make it round Priory and the bike was a bit close to the track for us to continue.

As the afternoon went on the weather just got better and better and the tyres improved slightly, or was it me getting used to them? As a result I was able to push a little harder and enjoyed myself even more. Still getting duffed up by the quick boys, but having a great time!!

I'll sum up before you all go to sleep, by saying it was another great day, spent with some top guys.

Roll on the next one when I'll have some decent rubber on the bike!

Here's a couple of static pics from the day.

Bad luck with the trailer tumble!

Still its YOUR bike now.

Glad you had a good 'un - it's the salesman in you that wouldn't accept no for an answer from Kev!

Ok guys,  don't know the full engine spec, but it goes like a rocket, so it's deffo had head work and cams. The rest of the spec is as follows:-

Ohlins fork internals
Ohlins rear shock
Ohlins steering damper
Harris fairing bracket
Brembo master cylinder
Goodrich braided brake hoses
QAT 1/4 turn
Promach rearsets
Dynojet quickshifter
PC III
Akrapovic end can
Titaniam headers
Braced swinging arm
Carbon engine case covers
Renthal 520 chain conversion
Michelin wets on wheels with discs
Etc. Etc.

Quite a comprehensive package, just got to test it now!! With a bit of luck that should be tomorrow at Silverstone!! Yippie!! thumbsup
