Correct, but the tickets generally cost pennies, you can see the prizes and the school benefits.. Buying a ticket for fifty notes for a chance of winning a bike that - let's be blunt here - no one's yet seen or can vouch for, on the say-so that you'll get your money back of he sells it better elsewhere ... Just sayin ... G

The fact it's still up for a cash sale doesn't make the slghtlest bit of difference as if it sells before the ticket allocation is sold, money gets returned. Also the length of the raffle is a result of people being on the fence, i could of drawn the raffle yesterday if the allocation had been sold
![]() But yes, it all comes down to trust of which it'a going to take some people to put faith in me for the rest of you to feel comfortable I could understand the hesitation a little more if I was asking for £500 a ticket Edited by racerjosh - 19 October 2016 at 16:58 |

I'd agree with some of the above.
I think it's a cool idea but I'd be much more inclined to buy a ticket if the plan was to draw it at say the end of November if the tickets are sold, or make the refunds if not. It's arguebaly more enticing if people know they've only got to wait six weeks for the result rather than six months, in this age of instant gratification. Plus I don't want to spend circa £1000 over the winter getting the engine refreshed and paint job or whatever done on my racebike if I'm going to win a ZX10 in February! |

This is true... I think I'll edit the post and set the raffle date for the 1st of December and put some money into facebook to boost the group across a broader audience. Question for all.. should I keep the raffle tickets at £50 or reduce the amount of tickets needed to 160 and charge £100 per ticket? Maybe having 320 tickets makes people feel like it will never be reached? If I increase the ticket cost to £100, all of those that have already purchased a ticket will not need to pay extra! |

Just my view mate but £100 seems like a lot on what is essentially a little gamble, £50 feels a lot more approachable.
You can always email anyone who's bought a ticket if it gets to a week to go and you're a few short, some will go in for another you would imagine. Anyway, I got paid today so if you're moving it to 1st December I'm in, I'll fire you a pm now. |

I think this would be great if it were a dead cert raffle draw with a set draw date - I think if you had originally proposed that you'd have sold twice the amount of tickets.
PLEASE Don't take this the wrong way but It feels like you are hedging your bets here or even potentially using the raffle money to bank roll your new plans which will change if you get a better deal elsewhere then it effectively becomes an interest free loan - I do not doubt your honesty but there are scams around & with it being so vague who's to say your brother/mate/cousin doesn't end up winning & you end up getting grief left right & centre from suspicious parties as there is no scrutiny of the draw. Also if for some reason you didn't refund due to injury etc who would sort it out ? And if you just plain didn't refund £50 is a relatively small amount so most people wouldn't bother with any legal action etc. so it kind of feels like its all 100% your way. As I said earlier I was very interested but I honestly think you need to review it and set it up properly. Don't think I am being awkward - A local pub had a big christmas draw that was won by the owners partner and then the next big draw was won by the brother - you can imagine the reaction. |

180 tickets at 80 quid each gives you aroound 14,500.....Think you might struggle to get 320 takers at 50 quid....Have you got it up on trackday addicts Facebook page....You need to link it to every forum and bikersvpage there is on Facebook ifvlooking to get 320 takers.....at the moment 35 people looked on your facebookvaint gonna get you anywhere.

No offense taken as I understand where your coming from I've specifically declined family members just to save the hassle guaranteed to come with it. I'd rather not have to deal with an anger mob of bikers I've tried to find a better way to pick the winner but found nothing. Even if the winner was based on the lottery draw, somebody would still feel that it was fixed... I can only say that in buying a ticket that you would be happy with how the draw is being be done. I will be updating the group post later on today with the official end date and give this thing one big push. The thing I find strange is the fact that the posts have only been seen by 40 people. I paid to boost the group on facebook, reaching 2000 but only having 65 click onto it. How can 65 people click the link and then not see the first post? He audience was releveant to the listing as well. Will dig a bit deeper this time round and get in contact with the main facebook groups to see if they can help give me some prime time

Some valid comments here but I think December maybe a little soon, I think at £50 a ticket and 320 to sell it will take a little longer to get up a head of steam to get all sold, As the payments are thru PayPal and Josh hasn't just turned up put of the blue I feel reasonable comfortable with making my payment. I would say thou Josh would pay to have someone able to admin your account in case if you were unable after all you don't want 250+ angry bikers turning up at home .

Mate seriously what's the problem? You don't like it don't participate, as everybody said you'll get a refund if it will be sold, we are all racers and don't do porkie pies, no reason to make so much noise just around £50 quid, if its too much for you - don't participate at all, that's it.

To be fair I think he was just a bit unsure as I only had a very vague end date to begin with but now that I have set some dates in stone he has bought 2 numbers for the raffle

http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/Gambling-sectors/Lotteries/Getting-a-licence/Do-I-need-a-licence/Circumstances-in-which-you-do-not-need.aspx
Which is fine and legal. Legalities aside, in the end, compared to spunking ?50 on lottery tickets, this is probably better 'return on investment' - similar to putting a 319/1 bet on at the bookies - they typically take a cut, so in reality the event isn't quite as likely to happen as those odds suggest, while most probably the bike isn't worth the full ?16k. Other ones I've seen done often do it with numbers taken from the lottery or similar which means there's no way it could be 'cheated' (slight of hand etc could see something like this be given to a mate if the OP isn't honourable - which I'm not suggesting he is and others seem to vouch for him, but a complete stranger coming along may be worried.) Ok, so now there is a set date for the draw - thats much more enticing.
Can you post up a list of numbers showing taken & free then update so everyone would know how it's going ? I am still on the fence but with things being clear & the draw date certain it's hard not to have a punt on this :-) It's the wife birthday in 3 weeks, maybe I should buy her a ticker !LOL

All the information needed is in the facebook group. Including up-to date number allocations ![]() I mean to cause no offence, nor to put you on the spot or use you as an example but is the facebook group not very clear? It could answer why people haven't taken that extra step? It looks clear and understandable to me, but could be clear as mud to others, which if that's the case it needs sorting out

Whilst in theory that should be the best way.. it is a piece of software and there is no way for anyone to trust the outcome. Even if I presented it live, I cannot prove that it is un-tampered |

The only true way I could make people happy is to do a bonus ball.
Those that have already got a ticket (at 15 now I think) will be honoured their number and then sell the remaining 44 tickets @ £325 GBP Find me 44 people that would be happy to do that in principle then great, but I'm struggling to sell them @ 50 let alone 325 Edited by racerjosh - 20 October 2016 at 21:03 |

I can't believe more people off here aren't buying tickets. The chance of winning the bike is enough but you are also helping someone out that races at a very good level.
