    Posted: 17 August 2014 at 07:39

Here we have my much loved 2002 Aprilia RSV-R1000 Mille in Matte Black, It has 9500 miles, I have enjoyed the bike for around 3 years, prior to this I owned a K7 and K5 GSXR1000 and find the Mille way more fun and better to ride. Last winter I put the Mille in the garage stripped it down and removed the big heavy rear end and rear subframe and replaced with a RSV4 tail and stumpy custom exhaust, I then fitted some tuning mods and had it dyno’d where it made 122bhp (with dyne print out)at the rear wheel and a crazy amount of torque, As most people know with these V twin bikes its not about power on paper but the kind of power these bikes deliver. This bike feels like a completely newer version with the mods carried out giving it a better riding position and making it turn into the corners quicker and pull out very nicely.

Extras from the factory include

* Oz lightweight racing forged wheels (saving 25% weight),
* Ohlins suspension,
* Ohlins steering damper,
* Lots of Carbon fibre goodies,
* Brembo brakes,

Other extras:

* Renegade Air induction kit * Dr Rossi Eprom
* Rear LED light,
* Custom LED indicators all round,
* Private Reg plate worth £400,
* Power commander,
* Rolling road dyno tuned,
* Custom made stainless steel exhaust,
* Custom Jester RSV4 tail unit,

Im looking for a track bike so need to sell up or SWAP for track/race bike, Ive had this on Knockhill once and think its just too good and has too much sentimental value after the time and money I've spent on it. Looking for £3550

Just serviced around 1k miles ago.

Any questions fire away

Total nightmare mate, I gave the guy a deposit and bought the bike over the phone, He was aware I was offshore till Tuesday then sends me a mail saying I have to pick up the bike by Wed as he's going over to France till the 30th of August, So I need to buy a van and get down to him to buy the bike by Wed which wasn't really doable considering it 460 miles and around 9 hours 1 way.

So at the min I still have no track bike and down £300 deposit.............

To be honest mate, He sounded like a proper genuine guy on the phone, I know he's been mega busy so hopefully the refund is going to be processed back to paypal soon. The bike seemed to pretty much tick all the boxes so I'm just a bit gutted and back to trying to figure out what bike to start with again rolleyes

That's bad form , i would pester him to death till he gives you it back. I still don't no why they ask for a deposit for ? If the sale falls through he is covered by ebay and gets his fees back.

Well he's ignored my last 2 texts but to give him the benefit of the doubt he's driving to France at 0100 so might be trying to get some sleep, So yeah getting pretty pissed off now.

Am I wrong to think he should have told me before I paid the deposit that I was massively restricted to when I could actually receive the bike??? IMO He kinda changed the rules after he got paid, I had been making plans to pick the bike up (460 miles away/ 9 hours) and then all of a sudden he tells me, Oh forgot to say I'm going to France.

Yeah actually f**kin fuming sitting here!!

QUESTIONS.

1.DID HE END THE LISTENING WHEN YOU BOTH AGREED HOW MUCH FOR THE BIKE ?
2.DID YOU THEN SEND HIM THROUGH EBAY THE DEPOSIT ?
3.WHEN YOU PAID THE DEPOSIT DID YOU ADD THE ITEMS NUMBER IN THE PAYMENT DETAILS ?
4. WAS THERE A TIME LIMIT TO PICK THE BIKE UP ON HIS LISTING?
IF YOU HAVE DONE EVERYTHING THROUGH EBAY RIGHT THEN THEY WILL BACK YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK AND GET YOUR DEPOSIT BACK.

Unfortunately mate the answer is no to the questions above, He contacted me after the sale had finished to offer me the bike slightly cheeper than listed, He didn't tell me about the holiday till after I made the deposit, I foolishly made the payment through paypal as a gift (Really didn't think about that 1)

Looks like I don't have  leg to stand on eh.

Hopefully it will be ok. If he doesn't give you your deposit back would tell him you will be putting claim in through small claims court. It's free and bit of form filling I believe. Guess you have the messages etc that show was him that backed out of sale and description makes no reference to any time frame to collect. Still option of reporting to eBay for trading off eBay/fee avoidance etc. best of luck.

Right been texting and calling him last night and all morning, He's obviously trying to get away with my money.

I wouldn't even want to buy a bike from such a person that would take money like that, He won't even respond to texts or answer his phone, what a pathetic coward.

Im really trying to keep my cool but struggling here, Thats me £300 down to try and buy  decent track bike and he's left the country...what a prick!!!

Are you absolutely sure he's taken his phone with him?

Ive no idea to be honest mate, But he's building a house in France I think he said, So he's away till the 30th of August, He said he was running for councillor or something, So think he would have taken his phone with him.

Not sure what to do now, Disappointed I put so much trust in a guy, His ebay feedback was good and he sounded like a good guy.

Even if he says Ive bought the bike as you've put a deposit down, when I meet him to pick the bike up I don't think it would be a very nice meeting to say the least!

Its going to be hard now you did it out of ebay , but start a claim against him through ebay . If he doesn't reply to any of your messages ( through ebay obviously ) ebay will step in and try to end the case.

its just harder now you did things out of ebay slightly.
you say hw messaged you after the auction? Was the message sent through ebay ? I so they will have correspondence between the two of you.

Sound advise mate cheers, Im now in the cue to speak to someone at ebay.

Most of the messages are over ebay, then he sent me his phone number through ebay so when I called he gave me his paypal addy.

I then paid his paypal and sent him a message to his tiscali account to let him know,  then the next message is telling me he's leaving the country so need to pick up the bike Wed or wait till he gets home.

What a joke about the bike. Good luck with this sale.

I'm thinking of selling my gsxr 600 k4 but it'll probably be to far (london) and no use to you as it's not a track bike but it's had a lot of work done so only really needs track fairings.

lol mate cheers but aye thats a bit far, Got my eye on a 675 at the min, Not far from Cadwell so hopefully pick up the 675 on Monday then track it on Tuesday, Guy says he can set it up for my weight etc

I have opened up a claim with Paypal, I said I left my account logged in at work and a work mate sent a guy £300 from my account by accident, Hopefully they will buy it.

I left a message on David Clarkes phone (cbr owner) to call me back and still nowt.

Other option is get a set of spare wheels for the Mille and some bigger sprockets and turn it into a track machine......

my mate just texted me asking if i'd seen some Aprilia RSVR with a RSV4 seat unit on a trackday forum...as he was swapping his CBR for it......small world eh! That CBR is a cracker too, he's really looked after it very well. He says you're planning on tracking it - see you at KH sometime ;-)
